As you can see, I have always been a cat person. Growing up, we had two cats, who were an integral part of our family.

Many of you heard about or knew my Calico cat, Lisa. On August 30th, I lost her at the age of 20.

In January, I adopted a kitten who was rescued from New Orleans, three months after the hurricane. Before the holidays, I spent a week volunteering at the Best Friends Animal Society, in Tylertown, Mississippi.

She was rescued on November 29th from a street corner in the Gentilly neighborhood, and I took care of her at the shelter. How she survived the first three months of her life is a mystery, but she now has a wonderful home in Portland. Her name is Katrina.

I started this business in September 2000, after a decade in the psychiatric research field. I have a bachelor's degree from University of Oregon and a master's degree from Lewis and Clark College.

Sometimes, I feel like I have the perfect job. I get to drive around Portland, visiting kitties! While it is a lot of fun, I take my responsibilities seriously. It means a lot to me that people are willing to trust me to care for their homes and beloved pets. I try to create a bond with each cat, and I certainly appreciate all their varied personalities.

I feel very fortunate to have found a career with such variety, heart and humor.
